Tokyo Beast Beginner Guide (Part 1): How to Play, Earn, and Upgrade in TRIALS + BASE

Welcome to the ultimate beginner guide for Tokyo Beast. Whether you’re just downloading the game or trying to understand how NFTs and earnings work, this is your all-in-one breakdown. In this Part 1 guide, we’ll walk through everything from starting the game, earning tokens, managing your BEASTs, and understanding stats and skills.

What Is Tokyo Beast?

Tokyo Beast is a next-gen Web3 auto-battler that merges traditional mobile gaming with NFT mechanics and real earning opportunities. You’ll collect characters called BEASTs, battle in different game modes, climb ranks, and earn cryptocurrency called TGT.

The game is built around two systems:

  • TRIALS – The main game mode where you play with Proxy BEASTs
  • BASE – The NFT system where you manage your own NFT BEASTs

Step 1: Getting Started – Registration Bonuses

When you first join Tokyo Beast:

  • You get 4 Proxy BEASTs and some upgrade items called MODs.
  • Then, the game gives you 6 more BEASTs, totaling 10 Proxy BEASTs for your starting roster.

These are Proxy BEASTs, not NFTs. They’re used for gameplay, and all start at E Rank, which updates weekly based on your performance in Matchups.

Note: BEAST Rank does not equal rarity. A high-ranked BEAST just performed well recently.

Step 2: Matchup Mode – Your Main Game Loop

Matchups are where most new players spend their time. You use Beast Stamina to battle, climb the weekly leaderboard, and earn rewards.

If you want to avoid spending currency, you can use Rental Battles to slowly farm Beast Gacha Points (PTs) for free.

The Basic Progression Loop:

  1. Complete Rental Battles
  2. Spend points in Gacha to get new Proxy BEASTs
  3. Use those BEASTs in Normal Battles to increase rank
  4. Earn Lottery Tickets, climb, and repeat

Step 3: What is TGT?

TGT (Tokyo Games Token) is the main cryptocurrency used in the game.

You can earn TGT by:

  • Winning Matchups
  • Entering and winning Lotteries
  • Betting in Championship mode
  • Getting lucky in Rental Battles

Use TGT to buy Jewels (upgrade currency), or exchange it for fiat like JPY via crypto exchanges.

Step 4: Proxy vs NFT BEASTs

There are two types of BEASTs in the Tokyo Beast ecosystem:

Proxy BEASTs:

  • Free characters used in TRIALS (gameplay)
  • Performance affects weekly rank
  • Not tradeable or ownable

NFT BEASTs:

  • Minted from Beast Rawdisks
  • Owned and managed in the BASE system
  • Tradable, modifiable, and can be sold

When you mint an NFT BEAST:

  • You can modify it in BASE
  • Those changes reflect in TRIALS the following week
  • You can also burn it to remove it from the Gacha

This gives you full control over gameplay availability.

Step 5: Championship & Betting

The Championship is a bracket-style mode with higher rewards. You can:

  • Enter and fight through rounds
  • Or place bets on other contenders using Championship Chips

There are two types of bets:

  • Champion – Predict who wins
  • Hit5 – Predict how many survive (riskier, higher reward)

Spread your bets across contenders to minimize risk and maximize steady gains.

Step 6: Efficient Free-to-Play and Paid Strategy

Free-to-Play Approach:

  • Complete your Daily Missions (use 20 stamina/day)
  • Grind Rental Battles for free Gacha Points
  • Focus on climbing Matchup Ranks
  • Collect Lottery Tickets for Rawdisks and TGT

Paid Strategy:

  • Convert TGT to Jewels for upgrades
  • Use Gacha to target better BEASTs
  • Focus on Arena Auto Farming to earn passive tickets
  • Mint high-performing BEASTs as NFTs for value

Step 7: Understanding BEAST Stats

Your BEAST has:

  • BV (Base Value): Initial stats at level 1
  • BP (Beast Power): Total stats including levels and MOD bonuses

Other key stats:

  • AGI (Agility): Speed and formation positioning
  • HP, ATK, DEF: Health, damage output, and resistance
  • CRT-DEX, CRT-EVA: Crit chance and crit dodge
  • DBF-DEX, DBF-EVA: Debuff chance and debuff dodge

Each stat has a rank from E to S, so you can quickly identify strengths.

Step 8: BEAST Parts & Skills

BEASTs have 4 main parts:

  • Head – Leader skill (always active if in party lead)
  • Body / Back / Tail – Each with a unique battle skill

The game favors stronger Body skills when your condition is good, and weaker Tail or Back skills when your team is struggling.

Step 9: Rock-Paper-Scissors Type System

Each BEAST part has a Type that falls into a Type Group:

  • Rock: Furry, Dragon
  • Paper: Cthylla, Merrow
  • Scissors: Harpy, Pixie

Type effectiveness:

  • Rock > Scissors
  • Scissors > Paper
  • Paper > Rock

Only the Body, Back, and Tail have type groups that affect battle outcomes.

Step 10: Personality & Battle Condition

Every BEAST has a Personality, which affects how battle Condition is determined.

There are four personality types:

  • Optimist / Cynic – Based on HP comparison
  • Show-off / Risk-taker – Based on Shu-Ha-Ri gauge

A good Condition triggers Body skills more often, while a bad Condition relies on Back or Tail skills.

Step 11: Shu-Ha-Ri Skills

These are special skills triggered by specific battle conditions. They can:

  • Buff your team
  • Revive KO’d BEASTs
  • Change the turn order

These advanced skills are critical for high-level competitive play.

Step 12: NFT Ownership & Control

This is where Tokyo Beast leans into true Web3:

  • Modify your NFT BEAST in BASE and see changes in gameplay (TRIALS) next week
  • Mint or burn NFTs to control their Gacha appearance

All changes apply during the weekly Beast Rank reset. This gives players real influence over meta and availability.
